Reviewing our "getting started page" and looking for
suggestions/improvements...

Our "getting starting
<https://www.osgeo.org/community/getting-started-osgeo/>" page recommends
the following:

1) Get Oriented - FAQ

Have a look the FAQ and join the discuss list.

This seems like a sensible place to start, could we change it to "join the
discussion list and introduce yourself?

2) Add Yourself to the Member List

This is actually instructions for login into the wiki, not bad...

3) Become a Charter Member of OSGeo

This is probably not a realistic 3rd step, could we consider "Join a Local
Chatper"?

4) Find a Project to Work On

Links to volunteers needed page, which is more focused on committees
(including the defunct web committee).

Could we change this to "Join our contributors".

5) Join a Mailing List

... this could probably be added further up the page

6) Help Curate the Wiki

Could this be listed as a good example of "Join our contributors"?

7) Jump on IRC

IRC is not as active as it once was, but still useful.

8) Translating pages of this OSGeo portal

I think this references the drupal website and could be removed.

9) Access to OSGeo services (OSGeo user ID)

Good information, but the forms are a little confusing to get started with.
