[OSGeo-Discuss] Student application period for GSoC begins today

Dear Community,

this is a reminder that student application period starts today at 
https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=GSoC+2018&iso=20180312T17&p1=136

The application deadline is 27 March.

Students are reminded to use the template at 
https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code_Recommendations_for_Students#Template 

It is also important that students don’t just submit their proposals, but take the time to discuss the proposals with mentors and the community in developers mailing lists, and modify them according to the feedback. Remember that the earlier you prepare your proposals, the more time you have to get feedback and therefore the more chances to get selected. 

Usually last minute, never discussed proposals are not even considered. 

Remember that GSoC is a highly competitive program, so demonstrate your skills, be proactive!
