For those seeking a more sustainable means of getting to Bucharest
rather than flying, there are also a considerable number of ridiculously
cheap sleeper trains, including direct from Austria (Vienna), Hungary
(including Budapest), Moldova (on original Soviet rolling stock!),
Bulgaria, and Turkey.
Austria has excellent rail connections with the west, and it's possible
to get from western Germany to Romania in two nights, with a relaxing
day spent exploring Vienna between them.
