Hi everyone

The OSGeo board met on 28 November 2022, minutes are here:

https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Board_Meeting_2022-11-28

...and here is a summary:

We set up motions to accept PgRouting to the OSGeo project incubation
process; accept the ETF testing framework as a community project and accept
giswater as a community project. These are in loomio here:
https://www.loomio.com/g/kdSmIwxu/osgeo-board.

Raising that the Giswater organisation also requested an MoU (Memorandum of
Understanding) led to discussion about the scope and purpose of memoranda
of understanding with other organisations. This is because requests for
MoUs seem to have spiked recently, some for one-off events. We discussed
putting these in a separate framework (marketing agreements?), keeping MoUs
for longer term strategic partnerships. OSGeo will define a standard
template for these agreements.

We discussed the low turnout rate for OSGeo board elections - this e-mail
is the first step in acting to help the community understand board
processes, and encourage people to get engaged! It is clear that in the
past 12 months communication from us as a board has dropped off. We hope we
can fix that!

Valmir from the FOSS4G 2023 organising committee had questions about how to
collect credit card payments, and how we should interact with a government
agency with specific needs about how they can support FOSS4G.

An outstanding travel grant funding request was raised, resulting in
discussion about what happens if a committee can’t reach a decision, and an
action to motivate the relevant committee to make the decision that has
been delegated to that committee.

Because we didn’t make it through the agenda in 1 hr 15 minutes, we will
have the next meeting on 12 December at 16:00 UTC. You’re welcome to attend
here: https://meet.jit.si/OsgeoBoard

If you have questions or comments, reply to the list here - that way the
discussion will be tracked and archived for future reference. Or reach out
to any of the directors if things need to be discussed more privately.

Regards,

Adam Steer

on behalf of the OSGeo Board of Directors
