<P>I think it goes further than just this - I read on a few blogs that ESRI is using the GDAL libraries in ArcGIS 9.2.</P>

<P>It does look like the "gorilla on the block" is slowly realizing that the geospatial community is evolving around them and they need to react. </P>
<P><STRONG><EM>May be they will even consider support for the FDO project and FDO in their tools. Wow won't that be great!</EM></STRONG></P>
<P>It is also interesting to read the blog space to see that many loyal ESRI users are looking to the open source community to solve their needs (and lots of other threads are also appearing - just one example).</P>
