Hi Tyler,

First of all, congratulations to each contributor of this volume. That was a very nice publication!

Then, back to translation topics: I think that translate all OSGEO-News or even part of them,
can be very expensive - time and manpower.
Of course that institucional articles/texts such as "Who is OSGEO", "Why OSGEO", "How to contrin" should be translated
to get as much readers as it can. It's just like GPL : it was translated to a lot of languages.

But, maybe another way should be to open an "international section" or "Local OSGEO texts"
to let authors and contributors to write about their local scenarios and situations.
Sometimes to translate a case "A" could not make sense for a reader "B" who
will never see that enviromental or economic situation in his country.

Some persons could prefer to write in their own languages and then, to have
more freedom to create their own texts.

On the other hand, for each local written contrib,
at least two local revisors should be available to ensure text quality.

best regards,

Eduardo Patto Kanegae

Thanks for the enthusiasm. We manage all the files using a
subversion repository, so all source code is definitely available.
I'm not sure how we could best manage translations using svn. Any
suggestions from svn power users out there? Should we make a branch
for each language? I'm new at this...

Tyler

On 16-May-07, at 2:21 AM, Jacolin Yves wrote:

> Hi,
>
> On Wednesday 16 May 2007 11:15:05 Markus Neteler, wrote :
>> [..]
