On behalf of the Organizing Committee I would like to draw your attention to the forthcoming 4th EGU Leonardo Conference on the Hydrological Cycle:<br>

HYDROLOGY AND SOCIETY:<br>
Connections between Hydrology and Population dynamics, Policy making and Power Generation.<br>
<br>
The Leonardo Conferences are complementary to the EGU General Assembly: they are focused on a specific topic and foster an intensive exchange among a limited group of participants.<br>
<br>
The 2012 EGU Leonardo Conference will be held in Torino, Italy on 14-16 November 2012. Main themes around which we encourage a multi-disciplinary participation are:<br>
<br>
- Hydrology and Demographic pressure under global change:<br>
Societal adaptations and human induced land changes on catchment hydrology<br>
Virtual water trade and food security<br>
Desertification and primary water requirements<br>
Open science (data and tools) for sustainable development<br>
<br>
- Hydrology and water policies<br>
Opportunities and problems in the implementation of the international protocols and EU environmental legislation<br>
EU and international programs impact on the research in Hydrology<br>
Economic policy instruments and regulations measures for water management<br>
<br>
- Hydrology and Power availability for sustainable development<br>
Environmental sustainability and water conflicts related to hydropower<br>
Hydrological tools for assessing policies of hydropower efficiency<br>
Climatological implications in energy production from the sea<br>
Water-related energy issues in developed and emerging countries<br>
<br>
- Cross-cutting Theme: Governance of Water-related Risks<br>
<br>
Financial support has been requested to cover expenses of a limited number of participants from developing countries.<br>
Final abstract deadline is June 15, 2012.<br>
Authors will be notified of the abstract acceptance by July 15, 2012.<br>
