Hi Dirk,

Thanks for sharing the ideas on Europe chapter . I also think we should build upon North American Regional chapter[1] ideas now to have regional chapters (continent wise )setup globally in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America for rapid expansion of OSGeo
globally. If there are OSGeo members supporting creating Europe Chapter (as i could see from the list), then the OSGeo Board should facilitate its creation and provide support to effectively address the specific needs of those areas.

Similarly if colleagues in South America or Asia want to setup a regional chapter to build region wise needs and synergies, let us provide them support as done with the North America chapter. I also suggest that those who already setup or in the process
of setting up continient wise chapters like North America, Europe (in fact, these are two regions who have strong OSGeo growth) should share thier experiences to support other Regional chapters to form in Asia, South America and Africa to further accelerate
thier development. Thanks.

Best wishes,

Suchith
Hi Enock,

I fully agree with you.
This is one of the reasons we send a formal request to the OSGeo board
begin July to accept the formation of the OSGeo.EU chapter.

We already have some key members supporting the initiative and the idea
is to discuss the further roll-out of the organisation at the Bonn
FOSS4G conference.

In my vision, every continent should have a LOC that could focus on the
initiatives where free and open source software for Geo could be
introduced and used. These should help the LOC's already present in
different countries and form an addition to the language specific LOC's
I am open to share our experience and idea's with you.

All the information about who is involved and what our goals are you can
find on the wiki [1]
