We are looking forward to working closely with you and colleagues at Center for Agricultural Networking and Information Sharing (CANIS) and VACID Africa.

Our African geocommunity is leading our huge developments for the future. For example, FOSS4G Southern Africa will be held in Johannesburg from June 27-30 next year. It will be a joint conference with the South African QGIS User Group and overlap with a
GeoforAll + SAGTA conference so there will be great interaction with the secondary and tertiary geography and GIS education sector. A draft programme is at

The Global FOSS4G 2018 conference is planned in Dar es Salaam (tbc).

We are looking forward to expand synergies with all these amazing developments worldwide.
Best wishes,
Thanks Suchith for this frank sharing... it gives me lots of hope and direction. At the Center for Agricultural Networking and Information Sharing (CANIS) and VACID Africa, the organization that supports me to promote GIS driven decision making in the agricultural
space, we are keen to tap from the gains already made.

We look forward to listening and learning more as we infuse our approach to experiential learning. We're certain to place our dynamic approach to shared knowledge available to the world.
Dear colleague,

GeoForAll is a shared idea build by colleagues globally to build Open Geospatial Science. Open Geospatial Science [1],[2],[3] builds upon the idea of Open science that scientific knowledge of all kinds are able to be develop more rapidly and in a more productive
manner if openly shared (as early as is practical in the discovery process). The key ingredients to make Open Geospatial Science possible is Open Principles (open source geospatial software, open data, open standards and open access to research publications)
.

Research centers/groups within a single university come and go and are transient but research disciplines and ideas will have longer impact. Hence from the start our aim was to create Open Geospatial Science [1],[2],[3] as a discipline. But we had to take
this one step at a time to make this possible and i want to share some of our experiences, so we can help build more ideas at http://opensourcegeospatial.icaci.org/2016/04/open-geospatial-science-2/

We were very clear from the start that we will be supporting Open Principles (open standards, open data, open educational resources, open software, open access to scientific publications) for our mission to ensure sustainability and bring together universities,
industry, SMEs, NGOs together on this shared vision.

Geo for All is a shared idea whose time has come. An idea whose time has come is the most powerful force in the universe, and the time for “Access to quality education opportunities for everyone” has arrived.

We look forward your collaborations on our mission to make geospatial education and opportunities accessible to all.

Best wishes,
