The Research Data Alliance (<a href="https://www.rd-alliance.org" class="OWAAutoLink" id="LPlnk756475">https://www.rd-alliance.org</a> ) (RDA) is a community-driven organization that brings together data scientists, computer scientists, and domain scientists
with one common goal – to remove the barriers to data sharing and reuse. The RDA Plenaries are working meetings held every six months in different places around the world focused on helping move the community forward in creating tangible deliverables that
improve data sharing across disciplines, technologies, and countries.<br>

This info. on RDA EU Early Career bursary for the 9th Plenary meeting in Barcelona might be of interest to some. Those interested please apply directly through the RDA website (details below) before 31st Jan 2017 (midnight CET)<br>

RDA Europe is offering travel support to European Early Career Researchers & Scientists working with Data to attend the 9th RDA Plenary meeting, to be held in Barcelona, Spain, 5-7 April 2017.<br>
<br>
If you are currently engaged in Bachelor, Masters, PhD or Post Doc studies related to tackling the challenges around research data management and your study is conducted in a higher education or research institution based in Europe, then you should apply for
the RDA Europe early Career Programme. In its 7th edition, the aim of this programme is to introduce early career researchers & scientists affiliated to a European organization to RDA, highlight what data scientists / practitioners are doing.<br>

Successful applicants are :<br>
<br>
• invited to display a poster summarising their studies and areas of interest during the plenary meeting<br>
• assigned a working group for which they are requested to attend the working meeting at the Plenary meeting<br>
• asked to take notes and provide a summary of the meeting for internal use by the group members<br>
• requested to write a publishable summary on the meeting to be posted as a blog / news piece on the RDA web site, referencing the applicant as the author directly<br>

On a different note, i would also welcome those interested in expanding Geospatial Data Science to join Geospatial IG of RDA that i am chairing. The Geospatial IG will be planning a meeting at Barcelona to keep building ideas for the global research agenda
