Hi all,

We are planning our first event for the Irish chapter of OSGeo -
https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Ireland
for May this year.

We hope to get around 30 attendees, and will be running some
workshops and discussions. I have found the following links on the
OSGeo wiki:

https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Event_Management

http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Marketing_Material_Samples

A question which is not answered in the above is what other local
chapters do with regards to financing these events. We need to
book a hotel conference suite - do most chapter's create bank
accounts? Or do the organisers pay costs directly?

Also what happens if there is a shortfall in funds (I'm guessing
the event is cancelled or the organisers make up the difference),
or alternatively a surplus?

Finally I have been trying to register to edit the wiki to create
an initial event page at http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/ - however it
has been a couple of weeks and I have received no
reply/confirmation. Is there anyway to see what has happened to
this application?

Regards,

Seth
