The build cycle for the next OSGeoLive release 17.0, has started. Our <br>
base operating system for the new version is Lubuntu 24.04.<br>
<br>
The final version is planned to be ready in October 2024 to be ready for <br>
FOSS4G 2024 in Bélem (Brasilia) [1].<br>
<br>
Please have a look at our schedule for the detailed steps [2].<br>

Documentation and translation<br>

With this building cycle we are starting with a new category [8] on <br>
discourse.<br>
<br>
The main focus of this category is documentation and translation.<br>
Translation is taking place on [4], and we have a basic training video <br>
[9].<br>
<br>
We want to be able to add as many new languages to the release's <br>
documentation.<br>
Those with at least 35% will be considered for inclusion in the <br>
documentation.<br>
<br>
If you have questions on how to add a language, please do not hesitate <br>
to ask in [8].<br>
<br>
Pull requests for documentation are welcome in OSGeoLive's documentation <br>
github repository [10].<br>
<br>
Documentation & translation meetings will take place on OSGeo meet for <br>
OSGeoLive [11]<br>
