[OSGeo-Edu] IRC meeting to discuss hosting/linking of material on OSGeo site

Dear educom members,

A few of us met on IRC on Mar 1, 2007 to discuss hosting/linking of
educational material on OSGeo site. The minutes of the meeting may be
found at

The summary is that we agree that both linking and hosting are
possible. Those who want to link to external sites may do so on the
wiki. Those who may want OSGeo to host the material, may do so at
http://download.osgeo.org, and a link to that placed on the wiki as
well. The links to all these materials (local or external) will be
maintained on the wiki so that they are easily found by others. I will
make a separate category for material submitted by individuals not in
conjunction with OSGeo.

Additionally, to ensure relevance, before any such material is hosted
on the site, it will be vetted by OSGeo members. The request for doing
so may be placed on the educom discuss list. There will be a material
submission form on the website which the individual wishing to submit
the material may use after logging in. Tyler will be requesting that
such a form be created.
