Dear Colleagues,

Professor Sergio Rey (Arizona State University) and Professor Daniel Sui (Ohio State University) are organising a pre-AAG workshop on "Open GIS: New Opportunities for Research and Education" in Tampa, Florida on April 7, 2014.

The primary goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers from academia, industry, and government agencies to discuss the new opportunities and set the agenda for Open GIS research and education in light of new advances during the past five years. An edited volume is planned based upon the talks given at this workshop.

It is also a good opportunity to bring together key members of the Open Source Geospatial Labs established in top research universities across the United States to discuss ideas for accelerating research collaborations.

The draft program is now at https://github.com/OpenGIS14/aag14/blob/master/agenda.md

It will be good if you can give any thoughts/ feedbacks/ideas for the workshop topics/draft agenda to Serge. Please contact Serge or Daniel if you are interested to participate in the workshop or for any info needed.

Best wishes,

Suchith
