No, there is no easy way to clean up files which were installed via
'sudo make install'.
This is one of the most compelling reason to use a package management
system instead.

Basically you should find all files related to GDAL under
/usr/local/{bin,lib,lib64,share}
A good idea is to move them in a separate directory instead of
deleting them, so that you can revert.
