Using the upstream sqlite rpm from http://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org/packages/libspatialite/2.4.0/0.6.RC4.el6/src/libspatialite-2.4.0-0.6.RC4.el6.src.rpm everything works fine with the new sqlite.
