[El] Trying to build gdal with ECW support on SL 6.0

Did you try starting from GDAL 1.8.0 in ELGIS testing?
This is our "best" version in terms of patches etc.
And the one we will use when starting working on EL6.

Or do you definitly need 1.7.x ?
(even then, it could be interesting to try, just to see if the same
issues happen or not)
