[ELGIS] Success building QGIS on SL 6.0

> Cool! Is 1.7 the current stable release? On http://www.qgis.org/wiki/Download, under the section "Source Code", it'slightly ambigious if 1.6 or 1.7 is the current stable release. Or are QGIS releases similar to the BSDs, where current is the current development version?

My understanding is that 1.6 is still the stable release, but that 1.7
is around the corner.
