[ELGIS] Success building QGIS on SL 6.0

Hi Peter:

Actually 1.6 is still the current stable version, but 1.7 is 
just about to be pushed out the door. They are in feature 
freeze, and I think that 1.7 will be announced as the stable 
within a few weeks. So if we're going to offer a package for 
EL 6.x , it should be 1.7.

> Cool! Is 1.7 the current stable release? On http://www.qgis.org/wiki/Download, under the section "Source Code", it'slightly ambigious if 1.6 or 1.7 is the current stable release. Or are QGIS releases similar to the BSDs, where current is the current development version?
