last time I used postgis and gdal it was working :)

what's the big deal with postgresql9?

Your problems are most likely related to this repository (pgdg84).

We support postgresql84 from the base distribution.
If you want to use ELGIS, you should probably uninstall the packages
you got from pgdg84, disable/remove this repository and install
postgresql84 from base (so don't exclude it from your repo file).
