Semantic of ProcessSpatialCondition operation

Hi,

I analysed the code of
FdoRdbmsMySqlFilterProcessor::ProcessSpatialCondition() function,
but I'd like to get some confirmation.
Is my assumption correct that ProcessSpatialCondition() constructs
spatial filter based on geometry bounding box?
So, spatial filter is based on rectangular mask?

Does FDO supports spatial filter based on non-rectangular polygons?
