[fdo-internals] FDO env. variables

The additional work I have is when compiling FDO and MapGuide itself.
If I work with different versions ( and I do ) I need to change env, variables to compile it.
I would like to be able to easier compile any version of FDO and MG without changes in env. variable.
Regarding provider i have multiple configuration’s beacuse I am building and supporting all active version’s of FDO’s.
When I am adding new functionality I am adding it in all flavours of provider.

Hi Harris,
We do not have any plans to move off of the env variable usage any time soon. Eventually it will happen but it would require a fair bit of work.
If I remember correctly, you use a single .Net solution, with multiple configurations, to enable compilation of multiple releases of your project. Since the source for 3.2.1, 3.2.2, 3.3.0 are now in 3 different FDO svn repositories, I am not sure why you need to maintain such a mechanism. It seems to only complicate your build process.

Hi,
Right now I am working with three version’s of FDO (3.1, 3.2, 3.2.2 ).
Problem I am having is setting environment variables to be able to compile those
Right now I need to change variables FDO FDOTHIRDPARTY,.. to compile fdo ( perhaps another usable way , exists ? ).
In provider’s I have changed to use relative paths instead of variables.
Is this something which we can change for FDO too?
How are others working with multiple fdo version’s ?
Haris
