I like the name postgresql as well, with the provider name being OSGeo.PostgreSQL.	

I can treat that as a friendly amendment to the RFC and update it later today unless I hear comments / objections one way or another.

What version? This should work with PostGIS 1.4.0 / Postgres 8.4.1 and PostGIS 1.3.5 / Postgres 8.3.7.

Well, that's a dangerous thing to say around here :)

I like postgresql because it will seem more natural if the other
provider is retired. DB at the end isn't consistent with any of the
other rdbms providers.

On a not-especially-important tack, any idea what version of
PostGIS/PostgreSQL this will be targeted to?
