Are there any further comments/alternatives to this proposal?

This would probably work.

Subject: [fdo-internals] Re: FDO connect by library
Would it make something like this possible?
void RegisterProviderByLibrary(FdoString* libPath)
{
FdoPtr<IProviderRegistry> prvReg =
FdoFeatureAccessManager::GetProviderRegistry();
FdoPtr<FdoIConnectionManager> connMgr =
FdoFeatureAccessManager::GetConnectionManager();
FdoPtr<FdoIConnection> conn = connMgr->CreateConnection(libPath);
FdoPtr<FdoIConnectionInfo> connInfo = conn->GetConnectionInfo();
prvReg->RegisterProvider(connInfo->GetProviderName(),
connInfo->GetDisplayName(),
connInfo->GetVersion(),
connInfo->GetFeatureDataObjectsVersion(),
libPath);
}
The ability to register new providers using information that already exists
in the provider library itself?
