 OGR supports the notion of field sub-types, which actually unlocks support
 for additional data types:

  * `FdoDataType_Boolean`
  * `FdoDataType_Int16`
  * `FdoDataType_Single`

 The key is when checking the type of an OGR field, to also check the sub-
 type for certain root field types.
