FdoSpatialUtility::GetExtents will do a scan of the geometry content.  It might not catch all possible errors, but it is likely much faster than textual conversion.

If there were a way to do it, I would've put the functionality in FDO Toolbox
:-)

I guess the simple way to find out if a fgf geometry checks out is if FDO
doesn't throw an exception when you try to get the textual form of the
geometry.
