This document is very helpful and explain a lot.
I can't still figure out meaning of columns attributetype and geometrytype
in table f_attributedefinition
Are they populated from some ENUMs, CONSTANTs or are they calculated
somehow?

attributetype = FDO property type.
geometrytype = Detailed geometry types allowed for this column.
