Joins?

Is there any thought being given to extending FDO to handle joins
between feature sources, and between features sources and data sources
(sorry if my terminology is off)?

To be effective, this would have to have both a provider-level component
when joins are between resources in the same database, and on the FDO
meta-level where resources are coming from different providers.

I would expect this to have full 1:0..1 and 1:M support with inner,
left, and right joins.

The applications that I'm currently having built (for MapGuide) are
working around this with multiple queries, but it's pretty ugly.  For
more advanced functionality, I'm looking at having to access the data
sources directly through the scripting language.  It would be tidier if
it could all be done via FDO.
