*Subject:* GeoComputation 2019 - First Call for Papers

[pastedImage.png]

It is our pleasure to announce the first call for papers for
*GeoComputation 2019*
<https://www.otago.ac.nz/surveying/news/seminars/GeoComputation%202019.html>* -
*Adventures in GeoComputation, which will be returning to *New Zealand*
in the mountain resort of *Queenstown*. It will run from *18th to
21st September 2019*. The conference will be jointly organised by
University of Otago, University of Auckland, University of Canterbury
and Victoria University Wellington.

We invite you to submit *papers* and *extended abstracts* within the
broad geocomputation scope via the GeoComputation 2019 Easy Chair site
<https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=geocomp19>. Papers should be
2500 to 4000 words in length and extended abstracts up to 1500 words in
length, using either Word
<http://www.geocomputation.org/2017/conference/FamilyNamesOfAuthors.docx>
or Latex
<http://www.geocomputation.org/2017/conference/FamilyNamesOfAuthors.zip>
templates (submitted documents in PDF format). The deadline for papers
is *30th April 2019* and for extended abstracts it is *31st May
2019*. There will also be a post-conference GeoComputation 2019 special
feature issue of Journal of Spatial Information Science (JoSIS).

We also invite submissions for *workshops* which will run on the first
scheduled day (alongside the New Zealand Geospatial Research Conference
2019) and *themed sessions* that will run within the conference. If you
are interested in this opportunity, please submit a title and abstract
of half to full page length, covering at least topic description,
relevance to GeoComputation, and organisers to
geocomputation2019 at otago.ac.nz, by *22nd February 2019*.

*Topics* include, but are not limited to: spatial analysis and
statistics, geographic visualization and visual analytics, virtual and
augmented reality, cyber GIS, open geospatial science, computational
movement analysis, complex systems analysis, AI and machine learning
methods for geographical research, Agent-based modelling, cellular
automata and geosimulation, geospatial uncertainty, spatial data mining
and applied geocomputation.

Queenstown is the stunning setting for this GeoComputation conference,
nestled in the Southern Alps of New Zealand on the shores of Lake
Wakatipu. It is a popular base for all sorts of outdoor recreation:
walking (locally, “tramping”), biking and at this time of year, the late
ski season. It is also the “adventure capital of the world” for those
after bungee jumping and white water rafting thrills.

The Rydges Lakeland Resort Hotel
<https://www.rydges.com/accommodation/new-zealand/queenstown-resort>
will be hosting the conference, where a block of rooms has also been
reserved for conference delegates to book. There are plenty of
alternative *accommodation* options too, as the conference is 5 minutes
walk away from the town centre. *Travel*-wise, Queenstown is accessible,
having direct air links to the main international airport hubs of
Christchurch and Auckland as well as major Australian cities. There are
also good road links from Christchurch, with a daily bus service.
