Folks,
My perception is that we should not guarantee workshop or presentation
space for all OSGeo projects. In particular, I think it is critical that
workshops be selected based largely on the basis of attendee interest and
thus (presumably) our ability to fill it.
It would be nice to try and have at least one presentation from every
project, but I don't think a really crappy presentation ought to get a
free-pass just because it is the only one for a given project (ie. "How
I used my GDAL keychain to scrape gunk out from under my toenails this
summer")
Perhaps one approach would be to let OSGeo projects identify one presentation
that they would like included on behalf of their project and if they do so
(and it isn't obviously terrible) we would include it? Projects would need
to select their sponsored presentation by a vote before we finalize
presentation selection. Projects that don't do so would not have a reserved
spot.
