[Foss4g2009] preparation for Capetown

Is there anything that "we want to know"
about FOSS4G2008 in Capetown that we can
communicate to Tim, and/or the 2008 OC,
so that it can be addressed/reviewed
during the conference? In other words,
things we 'want to know about' that may
be better to ask about now, rather than
asking after the conference is over?

I assume 2008 will be doing a 'final report'
like we did for 2007, but that may not be
out for months, and there may be things we
would like to know before then.
Things that would be helpful in setting
up a first draft of the 2009 program,
which we need to do in order to reflect
that program in the draft budget?

FOSS4G is an OSGeo conference, and there
will be an OSGeo Annual General Meeting
in Capetown, so there is the possibility
for a 'show of hands' as to what people
think about various topics/ideas.

For example:
1)
Labs
There is current discussion about whether
having "Labs"(used in 2007 for the first
time) are a good idea or not. Perhaps we
want to get an 'on the ground, during the
conference' assessment of how they are
perceived at FOSS4G2008?
2)
Workshops
In 2007, from the delegate's perspective,
they were limited to two - one in the AM
(choose one of 6 offered) and one in the
PM(choose one of 6 offered). There are
more choices for 2008, and also they are
offered on multiple days. Perhaps we
want to get an 'on the ground, during the
conference' assessment of how they are
perceived at FOSS4G2008?
3)
Technical Visits
There were none in 2007. Based on 2008, are
they something we want to have for 2009?
4)
2008 has an "academic track" for Presentations.
Is that something that would apply for 2009,
and if so, how might it impact the 2009 program.
