As far as I know, here's what needs to be done:
1)
Clarify "what box" will be used to host the
FOSS4G 2009 website, and who is in charge
of "that box". Have 'our person'(Simon) be
in direct contact with that person.
2)
Configure "that box". Presumably entails
setting up a public-facing directory for
the root web directory, and Apache config
(virtual host?) to support HTTP requests
in the form www.foss4g.org/YYYY/ and
www.foss4gYYYY.org (e.g. via suitable
Apache Rewrite rules).
3)
Put 'some content' into the root web
directory for FOSS4G 2009. Could be
a single 'placeholder' page, or a copy
of the draft website.
4)
Setup DNS entries for www.foss4g.org
(presumably already in place) and
www.foss4gYYYY.org to point to the
IP for "that box".
5)
Once the DNS entries are propagating,
have people test to make sure things
are working as desired.
6)
If necessary, update the website content.
7)
Announce the website's availability.
