Hi Matt,

I'm the chair for the international conference for Free and Open Source
Software for Geospatial, which we have managed to attract to Sydney from
20-23 October 2009.
http://2009.foss4g.org
This conference attracts the best Geospatial Open Source developers and
integrators from around the world, as well as many of the local
Geospatial Systems Integrators. The conference also discusses Open Data
and Open Standards. Traditionally, the conference attracts 500-700 people.

In prior FOSS4G conferences, an Open Street Map party has been
organised, and people have been asking about setting one up in Sydney
this year. I'd expect that we could get 100 or so people interested from
the conference, and if we publish an article in the Sydney Morning
Herald, or similar, we could get tonnes more locals.

Matt, as you seem to be the owner of http://www.osmaustralia.org/ , I'm
guessing that you would be the right person to talk to about setting up
such a party here in Sydney?
What are your thoughts?

Who else should we include in such a discussion? Feel free to CC others
in the discussion, or CC an email list.
