Helena, everyone,
I think this is a great idea!
I think it would be best if we could set up such panel as part of the general sessions. This is topic that is fundamental to advance the use of FOSS4G and an audience of non-academic professionals and interested parties would benefit the most from this discussion.
Rafael

I think the panel is a good idea - perhaps we can have something like at AAG.
We could invite panelist to talk about their experiences and material development for different edu formats:
- short courses, workshops, summer schools - here we can have a good representation from the development community
- K-12 - I wonder whether we have anybody working at this level
- undergraduate, community college
- graduate and research
We can then follow it by work session(s) focused on updating the material on the edu web site (inventory of material,
university courses, etc.) and on tutorials. For tutorials I guess it would be good to have at least a draft prepared
before the conference, to get a good start.
Can we get some feedback from the local organizers on how to get this into the program?
It could be linked to the academic sessions and/or code sprint or workshops.

I don't know if the conference organizers would embrace this idea, but I think something more than a BOF meeting would be a good idea.
