Hey Codrina,
to me this mail looks rather paranoid and uninformed.

For us it presents a major problem because we cannot use MailChimp to
organize the sponsor outreach. I am currently evaluating other options.

But if we really take this serious then we cannot send any mail to
anybody at all if we must first solicit for their approval. This is
ridiculous - as many have confirmed including Paul Ramsey, Sanghee Shin,
Ian Edwards, Puneet Kishor, Jeroen Ticheler,  Daniel Morissette and
others. So from all that I can tell the large majority is fine with
sending out Mails to people for sponsorship.

Currently Jody Garnett is even proposing that OSGeo use Location Tech's
mail list to send out information regarding OSGeo's relation to LT. That
list contains 120 thousand recipients! I'd really like to see
announcements of FOSS4G go there too! Let's see what will become of this
.
