[FOSS4G2016] FOSS4G2016 status update

of course I can, and because we are open, there are no sensitive issues 
;-)

-Call for Submissions is still open until 21. of March
-if people from the board from Universities could hint especially on 
the Scientific Track, that'll be great!
-Workshop team has setup and scheduled all their activities last 
weekend, so we are quiet optimistic to have a final workshop schedule at 
the beginning of April
-this is important, because registration will open at 15th of April
-I am in close contact with Andrea Ross from LocationTech about 
sponsorship and their help to promote our event
-we plan some activities to attract people to use our early bird offer 
(and with that safe up our financial plannings)
-prices for EB will be slightly below 2014 (around 590€) and regular 
slightly above Portland prices (750€)
-we are quite happy, that we already have sponsorship money of around 
80k all together (first plannings were based on 20k)
-OSGeo booth is at best place and already marked (it's 27 in the plan

-we are happy to have already a keynoter from European Commission, 
perhaps from ESA (and sponsorship from them), more requested
-we requested you, the board (via Venka) for another financial backup 
for our planned travel grant program (10k € from OSGeo), a fast decision 
here would be great, as we already have some interested people esp. from 
Africa
-same with student award
-we'll have a studentship program with a 50/50 deal: 50% of the time 
work for us (mostly help for video team) and 50% free access to the 
sessions
-happy to announce our key topics Earth Observation, Land Information, 
OpenData and Disaster Management which should attract neighboured 
communities
-regular weekly meetings on IRC and monthly meetings of LOC work well,

-PR&M is starting to produce really valuable things - and we'll have 
monthly, later weekly press releases to get FOSS4G more and more in 
focus
-weather will be great in Bonn ;-)
