 It would be useful to be able to set the following through the appdef:

   OpenLayers.IMAGE_RELOAD_ATTEMPTS = 3;
   OpenLayers.Util.onImageLoadErrorColor = "transparent";

 Perhaps there are other OL options that would be useful to expose?
