Folks,
I have committed my first pass at NITF read support. NITF is the
National Imagery Tranmission Format, and is the imagery format much of
the US (and allied) military imagery is managed in. It is the low level
"tile" format for RPF products such as CIB and ADRG.
The NITF reader just reads single NITF files not whole RPF products the
way the OGDI RPF driver does. The currently translator should support
NITF 2.0 and 2.1 files with no compression or the VQ compression used
for CIB data. I hope to add support for jpeg and possible JPEG2000
compressed NITF but that is by no means certain. I will also be implementing
NITF write support (uncompressed NITF 2.1) in the near future.
Feedback and bug reports welcome.
Best regards,
