[Gdal-dev] [ANNOUNCE]: MS Windows BMP files now supported

Hello, all,

Support for Microsoft Windows Device Independent Bitmaps (DIB) now
available in GDAL (BMP driver). Any types of bitmaps could be imported.
Driver supports creation of single band 8-bpp bitmaps or three-channel
24-bpp bitmaps via the Create() and CreateCopy() methods. Worldfiles
creation supported as well (option "WORLDFILE=YES"). Note, that BMP
format do not supports grayscale images and all 8-bpp bitmaps will have
colour table.
