Folks,
This is a request to the user community for contributions to the GDAL FAQ.
The ideal submission would not directly duplicate information already on the
main GDAL web page, would actually be an issue lots of people run into, and
would include an answer to the question.
If you email them directly to me mailto:warmerdam at pobox.com I will integrate
them into the document if I feel they are appropriate. The current FAQ is at:
http://www.remotesensing.org/gdal/faq.html
I would also note that I have added simple "see also" topics for most of the
GDAL C API today, that now point to the related C++ API methods so it is
much easier to use the GDAL C API. The C API is available at:
http://www.remotesensing.org/gdal/gdal_h.html
I am also working on docs for the new warp api, and would like to return and
flesh out the CPL level functions. DM Solutions has also implemented C API
documentation for OGR:
http://gdal.velocet.ca/projects/opengis/ogrhtml/ogr__api_8h.html
I would like to have an OGR API tutorial similar to the GDAL one. If anyone
is interested in writing one up in a similar style to the GDAL one
(http://www.remotesensing.org/gdal/gdal_tutorial.html) I would appreciate it.
Good developer documentation is intended to be one of the things that
differentiates GDAL from more casual geospatial data API efforts. Hopefully
we can also make more progress in the end-user utility documentation at some
point.
Best regards,
