what you suggeted in your e-mail referred to the way to build GDAL_SLIB, but
the problem i'm trying to work around is how to build GDAL_LIB.
what i'd need as a good alternativeto partial linking is a way to dump the
content of ogr/ogr.a into libgdal.a, possibly without another o-directory
trick. any idea?
