Sean / Alessandro,

Yes, there is a test suite for GDAL.  If you check osrs/gdalautotest out
of the remotesensing.org CVS server, cd into it and run "run_test.py" an
extensive but far from comprehensive test suite will be run.  This depends
on having the GDAL python support working smoothly.
