[Gdal-dev] RE: JP2 geo info question (and MapServer bug)

Drew and Frank were commenting last week on the MrSID support for GeoJP2
metadata:

> gdalinfo->mrsid sdk on the JP2 reports no geo info.
> mrsidinfo on the JP2 reports no geo info.
> gdalinfo->jasper on the JP2 reports geo info.

It turns out that the report was slightly in error -- the 4.0.x MrSID SDK
and associated tools does in fact read the GeoJP2 data correctly (although
earlier versions may not).

That said, there really *is* a bug being hit by MapServer users.  This
might be related to some earier reports Andrey and I and others had about
the MrSID driver being buggy.  We've got this issue in our bug database
here at LizardTech: we've got a new release coming along in the next
several weeks, and when it's ready for beta I'll try and sync it up with
the GDAL driver and build MapServer and see what we can find.
