[Gdal-dev] OGR: opening shapefiles with no records

Dear OGR developers,

When i open a shapefile with no records i receive a crash in the 
GetDBFCount method (it seems, that the dbf-handle is a null pointer). Is 
it not possible to open empty shapefiles with OGR or am i doing 
something wrong? At the moment, i insert a dummy feature for empty 
layers as a workaround, but it would of course be nicer without this. 
The version i am using is 1.2.3 on Suse-9.1
