[Gdal-dev] Compiling gdal-1.3.1 with Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition ?

Hi people !

I've tried to build gdal-1.3.1 under Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition
and it failed.
Someone can help me please (newbie inside) ?
Is there any other way to compil gdal-1.3.1 without using MS VC++ 6.x
and MS Visual Studio .NET (C++) as specified here
http://gdal.maptools.org/gdal_building.htmlWindows (I prefer not to
buy these software for only one use) ?
