I am seeing 152686 polyons in the north american
VMAP0 dataset.   There was a problem at one time
with one of the VMAP0 collections that the north american
VMAP0 CD dump was done with the wrong naming
conventions.  Perhaps you have this too?

My copy looks something like:

As you can see, I had to create soft links so that stuff
like "lht." would appear as "lht".
