[Gdal-dev] read prj & metadata from .html file?

Hi there,

Has anybody done any work to allow gdal_translate/info read metadata and 
projection info from an html file?

I have 3000 DRGs downloaded from the USGS and I would like to install 
the metadata directly in the tiffs. Currently gdal reads the origin, 
pixel size, corner coords, etc. from the .tfw but misses the UTM Zone, 
spheriod, etc. in the metadata file.


Is this possible or am I dreaming (a common occurence, believe me :)
