[Gdal-dev] Compilation with Xerces 2.6 on Redhat 9

Hi,
Configuring gdal 1.2.5 with Xerces 2.6.0 ends up with the following messages:
...
checking for Xerces C++... requested, but compile or link fails!

configure: error: Please correct Xerces options, or don't enable Xerces.
