[Gdal-dev] Compile problem on AIX5.1

Hi list,
I need to compile gdal (version 1.2.6) on IBM AIX 5.1.
Someone can help me to workaround the well known bug#:498 ( --> libtiff 
bug#:39)?

These are some output from my system:

%oslevel -r
 5100-04

%gcc -v
...
Reading specs from 
/opt/freeware/lib/gcc-lib/powerpc-ibm-aix5.1.0.0/3.3.2/specs
Configured with: ../configure --with-as=/usr/bin/as 
--with-ld=/usr/bin/ld --disable-nls --enable-languages=c,c++ 
--prefix=/opt/freeware --enable-threads 
--enable-version-specific-runtime-libs --host=powerpc-ibm-aix5.1.0.0
Thread model: aix
gcc version 3.3.2

So far i tried:

-remove the patch to tiff.h;
-building without libtool;
-compile with VisualAge cc and gcc;

but with no success...

Any help will be appreciated.
