Dr. Düster,

OGR 1.2.1 is a bit old now.  The 1.2.5 (or beta 1.2.6) driver is somewhat
more capable.  However, it still does not have any explicit Schema support.
There is an open enhancement request about this at:

  http://bugzilla.remotesensing.org/show_bug.cgi?id=522

You might want to add yourself to the cc: list.  I don't know when I will get
to this though.  To be honest, I don't really understand how the schemas
work well.
